3M™ bayonet-style particulate prefilters can be connected to 3M™ bayonet-style gas and vapour filters from the 6000 Series to provide protection against certain solid and liquid particles when used with 3M™ bayonet-style full-face masks. Use the 3M™ Filter Retainer 501 to attach a prefilter to each gas and vapour filter.

3M™ bayonet-style particulate prefilters are used to add particle protection to 3M™ bayonet-style gas and vapour filters. They are replaceable to help reduce costs; these particulate prefilters are designed to be easily replaced, providing a cost-effective solution because the main filters do not need to be changed. Use the 3M™ bayonet-style particulate prefilters with 3M™ gas and vapour filters and the 3M™ Filter Retainer 501 to help filter certain particles such as dusts, mists, fibres and metal fumes, in addition to a wide range of gases and vapours. These prefilters can also be used with the 3M™ 603 Filter Adapter and the 3M™ 501 Filter Retainer to help reduce exposure to particles only. These prefilters are easy to install and require minimal training. They are compatible with 3M™ Half Masks from the 6000, 6500QL and 7500 Series, as well as 3M™ 6000 Series Full Face Masks, helping to reduce inventory needs. They are not intended for use in environments that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) or that require an approved P2 or P3 filter. Replace prefilters if they become dirty, damaged or if breathing through them becomes difficult.
